For more than 100 years families have flocked to RDC for its natural beauty, tranquility and unique New England charm. If you love the sound of wind in the trees, the feel of leaves under your feet and the breathtaking glow of the sunset on a still lake... RDC is the place you NEED to spend your summers.

RDC has a huge variety of jobs that suit virtually every skill, and with the majority of our staff returning for more than one season.

 

 

 

 

Friendship

With over 150 seasonal employees from across the nation and the globe, you'll find that friendships grow quickly, and by the end of the summer, you'll have made deep connections with more people than you dreamed possible.

Our seasonal staff are typically college or masters students between the ages of 18-26 all looking for a great way to spend an amazing summer (or summers) and have a love for the outdoors!

Most of our seasonal staff return for more than one summer and enjoy the family-like atmosphere of the camp and the employees.

Where is RDC?

Located on beautiful Squam Lake in Holderness, New Hampshire, you won’t find a more beautiful, and exciting place to spend the summer! Plus, our close proximity to major highways makes all major northeast cities easily accessible!

Not only will you get a feel for what life is like in the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire, we have a staff rec employee that plans, organizes and runs trips just for staff. These include, concerts, shopping at the outlets, hiking, going to the movies, drive-in, paintball, trips to the ocean, Portland ME, dining out, local shopping, go-carts, zip lines, arcades, as well as organizing on-camp activities like sport tournaments, trivia nights, country meal nights, island picnics, water balloon fights, game nights and staff talent show.

Also nearby are Plymouth, NH and Meredith, NH, where there is nightlife, great local dining, concert venues, galleries and much more!

RDC has been bringing international staff onto our team through the Summer Work Travel and Camp Counselor Exchange Visitor (J-1) program for many years. RDC Staff Positions

Housekeepers
are responsible for the general care and cleanliness of camp cottages and support facilities - ensuring our guests a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable camp experience. Housekeeper duties include but are not limited to: thorough cleaning of cottages and common areas, bed-making, towel delivery, and checking for needed cottage maintenance and repair.

Laundry Staff
members are responsible for the daily operations of the Camp's laundry facility where all linens and towels as well as guest's laundry are cleaned.

Outside Crew
members are responsible for the delivery of ice and firewood to assigned cottages; tennis court maintenance, assisting housekeepers when necessary (e.g. moving furniture, picking up laundry, sorting trash and recyclables, etc.); general maintenance of camp grounds; and ensuring guests a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable camp experience.

Zodiac

is RDC's game room and store for snacks, coffee (lattes, macchiatos, cappuccinos etc.), sundries and sporting goods. Duties include: recording bike rentals; communicating regularly with the Finance Manager to confirm accuracy of daily deposits and charges; keeping an accurate inventory of retail items, restocking when necessary; and monitoring activity in the adjacent game room.

Wee Campers
is a morning outdoor playgroup for children ages 3-5 years old. Together, the staff plans and organizes daily activities that introduce children to camp life and help them develop an appreciation for nature.

Recreation Committee

members are responsible for organizing, supervising and directing activities for guests of all ages. Recreation staff applicants should enjoy teaching and working with people of all ages; possess skills and certifications related to the listed activities; be capable of driving a van and operating a commercial motor boat; be safety-oriented, highly motivated and enthusiastic; and possess a positive and flexible attitude.

Camp activities include:

  • tennis tournaments
  • organized games
  • sports
  • Island picnics
  • boat tours
  • hiking in the White Mountains
  • swimming and sailing events
  • talent shows
  • square dances
  • and much more.

Office Staff
members are responsible for operating the camp offices in an accurate, informative, and friendly manner-- ensuring guests a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable camp experience. Duties include but are not limited to: responding to guest inquiries and requests, billing, maintaining arrival and departure records, and operating our computer database.

Harbormasters
are responsible for delivering rental boats to guest docks and maintaining safe boating at RDC. Duties include: delivering and setting up boats, performing routine maintenance and repairs, teaching basic boating instruction, pumping boat gas, tracking boat rental billing, and operating commercial boats.

Food Service

Kitchen and Waitstaff:

Kitchen and waitstaff employees work in the kitchens as well as the dining room. These employees assist in the setup, presentation, and serving of food from counters and steamtables. Duties include, but not limited to: Preparation and cleaning of dining halls before and after meals.  Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work stations.  Refilling food and drink stations during meals, scooping ice cream, wrapping silverware, washing dishes, removing trash and recycling.

Dining Room Manager

The Dining Room Manager is responsible for overseeing the dining room operation.  They follow and enforce all RDC dining policies and procedures, supervise the kitchen and waitstaff, develop weekly seating charts for dining rooms, staff scheduling, and assist in proper presentation, cleanliness, and monitoring of dining room efficiency. They facilitate communication between RDC Management, food service director, cooks, and the dining hall staff to ensure the quality and consistency of the RDC dining experience.

Prep Cook:

Prep cooks are the building blocks of a well-oiled kitchen doing the day-to-day tasks that are needed to allow the cooks to turn out perfect meals. Prep cooks do much of the preparation for the dishes that are served. This includes chopping vegetables, cutting or grinding meat, weighing and mixing ingredients, washing and preparing vegetables, storing food, and more.

Cook:

Our cooks accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of delicious hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  All cooks follow established recipes and menu items change on a rotating basis. Cooks work closely with prep cooks to create first-rate meals for our guests and staff.  Work includes operation of grills, ovens, stoves, and fryer.

Baker:

Our bakers are skilled, creative, and are able to produce an assortment of baked goods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With a focus on quality, efficiency, and professionalism, our bakers follow recipes and product directions to prepare items including decorations to enrich item presentation.  Typical baked goods include breads, muffins, scones, sweet breads, cakes, cookies, fillings, icings, and glazes.     

Food Receiver:

The receiver is responsible for checking in all deliveries of food and non-food kitchen items.  They will inspect the deliveries upon arrival to ensure all items and quantities are correct and in good condition.  Receivers follow established guidelines for sorting, storing, rotating and delivering items to both dining facilities.  The receivers are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the commissary and kitchen storage areas.  Receivers operate a delivery van and small box truck.
